First Edition of New Release Tuesday’s; Products from NAHBS

For some odd reason, the music business always release’s their hip new albums on Tuesday’s. So, in keeping with the music biz,  Farm to Market Bikes has added a new feature; New Release Tuesday’s. The main focus will be on products that make commuting by bike easier, more fun and lets not forget, more fashionable. After all, if you look like a goon riding around town you may as well kick rocks. So what has the honor of being included in the first installment of New Release Tuesday’s? NAHBS.

What is this meaningless acronym?  Well, it stands for the North American Handmade  Bicycle Show. With this being the shows fifth year and having a new central location in Indianapolis, hype surrounding the event reached an all time high. The show features just about anything that a creative mind and sound welding can create. All of the products are quite exquisite, with basically all the creme’ of the bike industry in attendance. Keep in mind, While many of these commuters are very expensive a lot of their style comes from age old city bikes. Which we all know can be found for a great value. We’ll sift throw the “all show” and take a look at some products that will help you go.

Excellent commuter bikes have been a theme at NAHBS for several years now. The show’s previous location, Portland, OR, can take a lot of the credit for this. Portland is one of the most bike friendly cities in the nation. A growing tend at this years show was some new iterations of a time proven bike accessory; the front rack. Front racks are in vogue again for their stylish looks and ability to carry significant loads without affecting handling. The fact that you can see your load and make sure your not leaving a trail of fresh produce behind you is an added bonus. Frame builders including Signal, Hufnagel, Bilenky, Shamrock, Yipsan, Hunter and more wonderfully integrated front racks into their custom commuting creations. Long time brake and component manufacturer Paul had a nice rack ready to fit any bike with a ridgid fork. If this show is any indication of industry trends, we can expect a multitude of quality, load bearing racks to hit the market very soon. Here are some pics from the show, hopefully next year i’ll make the jaunt in person to see what’s headed our way. Thats it for the first edition of New Release Tuesday’s, see ya’ll next week!
